The big Blackriver review of 2024

You are a great scene and we look to the future together with confidence.

We want to look back on our anniversary year with you in three parts. And without giving too much away, we can say that it was a year that the company has rarely experienced. A year full of hard work and wonderful moments.

It all started with our planning for our 25th birthday. We planned several specials ourselves and together with friends and partners from the scene. Not everything could be realized in the course of the year, but we look back with pride on the things that made it to you. Thanks to Gripskin, Beastpants, Pop Decks, En Voyage and the entire Blackriver team.

In terms of events, the year really started with our East Coast Tour. First we spent a week in Toronto. There we (Tobias Phieler, Stolly, Oliver Blankenburg and Andy Eclov) were guests at an event organized by 6Skates, which was a complete success. It was great to get in touch with the Canadian scene in person and have a good session. We were also able to win a small contest here. Thanks to the hospitality of Vito and his family, we stayed for a whole week to film for various projects and to launch the “Ride your City” campaign. We hope it will inspire you to make similar clips.

We then drove three carloads full to Massachusetts to visit the Flatface Rendezvous and also host the second FingerCon with 6Skates and Slushcult. The original idea for this came from Vito (of 6Skates) and was originally built around the Rendezvous. We were finally able to turn his plan into reality. This was: we book ourselves into a hotel, announce it so that other fingerboarders can also stay there and organize an official event for the Rendezvous after-party in the conference room rented there and then FingerCon #2 the following day. Here, however, we did the math without you (it won't be the last time we make this mistake this year). From Friday onwards, the hotel was already completely taken over by fingerboarders and so three events merged into one. Thanks to the goodwill of the hotel, we were allowed to have the conference room from Friday and so it was a long session from Friday evening to Monday morning. Thank you very much for that.

In May 2024, part of our team set off to take part in the King of Prague event. Ramon Angelow, Alex Christ, Gene Senges, Stolly, Tobias Phieler & Oliver Blankenburg took second place with little sleep and a lot of effort. Watch the video if you haven't seen it yet. Thanks again to the organizers and congratulations to the winners from Finga Fingerboards.

We still find it unbelievable that the entire fingerboard world gathered in a village as small as Schwarzenbach an der Saale. As you can see from this bumpy text, it is still really difficult to put what we experienced into words and yet two words keep coming back to our minds: Thank y

ou! Thank you to everyone who was there, thank you to the community, thank you for the great birthday and thank you for the great memories.

Thank you,
Your Blackriver Team
